Base (Floor) Cabinets

Base cabinets refer to cabinetry that is to go under a bench top, for example base cabinets with doors or drawers, under bench oven cabinets, base corner cabinets, etc.

A base cabinet typically has a kick board as it is designed to sit on the floor.

General Information:

To work out the height of a base cabinet - You usually start with what is the overall kitchen bench top height that you want (e.g. 900mm), then deduct the bench top height (e.g. 34mm) and then deduct what kick board height you want (e.g.116mm). Using the example measurements, this would calculate to a 750mm base cabinet.

To work out the depth of a base cabinet - It is normally 20mm less than the width of the bench top. A typical kitchen bench top is 600mm, thus a base cabinet is then normally 580mm (note: the depth of the base cabinet includes the thickness of the door, as this makes the whole process simple).

Note: Bench Tops are not included.

  • Laminate bench tops can be ordered separately here:
  • 16mm or 18mm Thick solid bench tops can be ordered from the panels and parts area.
