Upper (Wall) Cabinets

Upper (Wall) cabinets refer to cabinetry that are above the floor, for example upper cabinets with doors, overhead fridge cabinets, rangehood cabinets, microwave units, upper corner cabinets, etc.

General Information:

Upper cabinets typically have several different heights in a kitchen, as the overhead fridge cabinet is a different height to the rangehood cabinet, which is a different height to the microwave cabinet or bench pantry cabinet.

To work out the depth of an upper cabinet - it is normally 320-350mm deep for a range hood cabinet, but a microwave cabinet is typically 450mm, and an overhead fridge cabinet is around 500mm. Note: the depth of the upper cabinet includes the thickness of the door, as this makes the whole process simple.
